Total load is the sum of watts across every checked appliance. Battery energy is batteries × Ah × voltage, converted to usable watt-hours with your battery type's depth of discharge and the inverter's efficiency. Backup time is usable energy divided by total load.
It does not allow for battery ageing, voltage sag under heavy load, or partial appliance duty cycles (like a fridge compressor). Size for the estimate, then add around 20% headroom before you buy.
